You guys will not believe the crap that we had to go through. The watchtower was on fire, and we had exterminated the goblins, and we inadvertently rescued the missing little boy. Jaques was hungry and cold and tired, but Dakath came through with the good good berries and got him back on the right track. We were just supposed to wait for the caravan, but some more f$#k(ng goblins showed up. I was sleeping, and a crazy voice showed up out of nowhere talking about PREPARE THE BLACK DRAGON STONE….. This, understandably freaked me the f$#k out. I woke everyone up and we got right the f$#k out of there. That's when we heard more goblins coming. We ambushed them pretty successfully at first, and Dakath was wading (literally) into battle and that's where it all went down hill. He literally jumped in front of my arrow. JUMPED UP OUT OF THE WATER IN FRONT OF MY ARROW. WTF. And Rhazon, not to be outdone, shot him too.
Did I mention that my brother Rhazon showed up? Oh yeah, Rhazon came back and got word that we were out on an adventure, so of course he had to come and show me how not to screw everything up. He's always looking out for me, my brother. I don't know where I would be or what I would do without him. He's the one who inspired me to come home and be an adventurer. I would never tell him this, but he's most of the reason that I thought I had it in me to be an adventurer. He has always set a good example and encouraged me to be the best I can be.
Enough about that. We were cleaning up the goblin bits and waiting for the caravan. We schlepped all the stuff that the goblin bastards had stolen onto the cart and made it back to town. There was some hesitation, but we decided to give the belongings to Eileen to get back to their owners. We may have kept just a bit of the coin for ourselves.
Back in town we were a bit hesitant to meet up with Brumbelmar. He had been such an asshat about the stone and sending us off on the quest that we seriously thought about not giving it to him.
Before meeting up with Brumbelmar, we went to see Waltin the Learned. He is not very connected to reality. There were more books there than I had ever seen. He posted the MISSING poster for Jaques, but didn’t seem to remember that his apprentice had been missing for a few days until we reminded him. I gave Waltin the goblin history book that we had found, and made a copy of the map of the Black Keep. Waltin didn’t know much about the black keep, but directed us to talk to Steelkegs about it. We need to make sure to be very gentle with him, since he lost his wife at the Black Keep. We will need to talk to him in the morning.
We went to the tavern, intent on investigating Brumbelmar, and figuring out why he had been such a dick. Jaques gratefully provided us with some social lubricant in the form of Faeloran Faewine. This proved to be exceptionally useful. It took a bit of coaxing, but we eventually figured out that Brumbelmar was being such an asshole because he believed that if the stone was not in the house of Paelor, that the black dragons would return. We sang a few drinking songs, and shared a few toasts. We will return the stone to the house of Paelor in the morning. Gale got a little drunk, and for a dwarf, Brumbelmar was surprisingly inebriated. This is going to be an interesting few weeks. Next to Steelkegs to find out more about the Black keep and WTF is really going on there.
